Introduction to albeit 3.1: War

Putting out a call for papers is always a bit of a gamble. As editors, we can analyze other CFPs, scour the news for hot topics, survey people in the field, and, yet, it is always a bit hit-or-miss. This dynamic was especially evident after our CFP for “Los Angeles/New York” failed to bring in papers but our CFP for “war” attracted two issues worth of solid scholarship and writing. This second issue on the theme by no means contains the “leftovers” but, instead, includes articles on the broader theme of war from teaching poetry to examining film to taking another peek at a woman writing war.

We hope you enjoy these pieces as much as we have and that you join us again in the fall for our next issue on youth.
